Emergency Generator Install

Professionally installed standby generators that automatically restore power during outages. Sized, wired, and permitted to keep your home running when the grid goes down.

Automatic Backup Power When You Need It Most

A standby generator is wired directly into your electrical system and starts automatically within seconds of an outage. No extension cords, no manual switching, no scrambling in the dark. Your refrigerator, sump pump, heating system, and critical circuits stay powered until utility service returns.

We size the generator to your actual load, pull the necessary permits, and install everything to code—transfer switch, fuel line, concrete pad, and all electrical connections. Every installation is inspected and tested under load before we hand you the keys.

What's Included in Every Install

  • Load calculation to determine the right generator size for your home
  • Permit application and coordination with local inspectors
  • Transfer switch installation to isolate your home from the grid during operation
  • Natural gas or propane fuel line connection (coordinated with your utility or propane provider)
  • Concrete pad or mounting platform per manufacturer specs
  • Startup and testing to verify automatic operation
  • Walkthrough of controls, maintenance intervals, and what to expect during an outage

Natural Gas vs. Propane

Most of our installs in NJ use natural gas where available—unlimited runtime, no tank refills. If you're on propane, we'll coordinate tank sizing with your supplier to ensure you have enough fuel capacity for extended outages.

Permits and Inspections

Every generator install requires an electrical permit and, depending on your municipality, a building or gas permit. We handle the paperwork, schedule inspections, and make sure everything passes the first time. The system isn't live until it's signed off.

Maintenance Matters

Generators are mechanical systems. They need annual service—oil changes, filter replacements, load bank testing—to start reliably when called on. We can refer you to qualified service providers or walk you through the maintenance schedule if you prefer to handle it yourself.

How it works

01

Site Assessment and Load Calculation

We evaluate your electrical panel, fuel source, and placement options, then calculate the generator size needed to power your essential or whole-home loads.

02

Permit and Equipment Ordering

We pull electrical and gas permits, order the generator and transfer switch, and coordinate delivery and any fuel line work with your utility or propane provider.

03

Installation and Wiring

We pour or prepare the pad, set the generator, install the transfer switch, run conduit and wiring, and connect the fuel line.

04

Startup, Testing, and Inspection

We start the generator, test automatic transfer under simulated outage conditions, and schedule the final inspection. Once approved, the system is live.

Common questions

How long does a generator installation take?+

Most residential installs take two to three days once permits are issued and equipment arrives. Permit approval and equipment lead times vary, so plan for four to eight weeks from contract to completion.

Can I run my whole house, or do I need to pick circuits?+

It depends on your load and budget. A whole-home generator costs more up front but powers everything. A smaller unit can cover essentials like heat, refrigeration, and a few outlets. We'll walk through both options during the estimate.

Do I need to do anything when the power goes out?+

No. The generator senses the outage, starts automatically, and the transfer switch shifts your home to generator power. When utility power returns, it switches back and the generator shuts down. You'll hear it start, but you don't touch anything.
